Art Action Plan

Prosper Covina’s Art Action Plan will dedicate its efforts to establishing an impactful presence through art by celebrating creative expressions from artists of all backgrounds. It will encourage the community to engage with the district by displaying and curating art events hosted by local artists. It seeks to foster Covina’s identity through an educational and artistic composition that embraces the existing community while inviting visitors and new residents. The Art Campaign will emphasize the importance of residents utilizing the Town Center to express creativity in different areas of the arts like; visual, dance, food, technology, and music.

Arts in Action

The Covina Arts District (CAD) will encourage artists of all mediums and backgrounds to grow their careers and businesses here. CAD is envisioned as a multi-use area combining innovative landscaping with specifically placed art pieces to create a unique experience for visitors and residents. The types of art proposals that are recommended consist of murals, projection mapping, light and art festivals, re-painting utility boxes, and more. These recommendations help Covina meet their goals mentioned in the Covina Town Center Specific Plan as a thriving maker’s district that seamlessly connects CAD to the adjacent districts. These ideas if combined with sustainable elements and landscaping will help Covina reach its vision for the district as a sustainable maker’s space.

Art Campaign Goals

  1. Enrich the Town Center through Art initiatives that engage the community.

  2. To further the vision and goals of the Town Center Specific Plan through Art.

  3. Involve local artists in the beautification of Covina Town Center.

  4. Provide cultural relevance through art displays and events.

  5. Provide an inviting atmosphere for residents and visitors by use of art elements.
