COVINA ARTS DISTRICT

Our Vision

Develop accessible, resilient, and artistic environments to invigorate the downtown area.

Project Goals

To provide recommendations to the existing Covina Town Center Specific Plan (CTCSP) within the elements of artistic creativity, sustainable environments, and community empowerment. These recommendations will provide long-lasting economic and social stability through art patronage, adaptive physical space, and community activation.

The Project

The Covina Arts District (CAD) will encourage the “adaptive reuse of existing structures and...establishment(s)" (City of Covina, 2019, p. 3-15) within Covina's F.A.I.R. district. CAD is envisioned as a multi-use area combining innovative landscaping with specifically placed art pieces to create a unique experience for visitors and residents.

The recommendations made for this report were all deemed as applicable for Covina. They can be installed or implemented through various grants, permits, or programs at the local, state, and even non-profit levels.

Covina Town Center Specific Plan

The City of Covina aims to revitalize the city core while streamlining the development process. The Covina Town Center Specific Plan (CTCSP) is an action-oriented plan that specifies opportunities for redevelopment in hopes of creating a more accessible and economically vibrant town center.  The long-term goal and plan of the CTCSP is to revitalize dense areas within Covina over the next 15 years. The basic conditions to undergo this process include development standards, public infrastructure improvements, and a comprehensive and strategic set of policies.
